Eve Bailey

Eve Bailey’s strong backgrounds in dance and martial arts combined with her knowledge in draftsmanship and construction have forged her approach to sculpting. The body interests her as a perceiving mechanical structure. She uses her own body’s imprint to design ergonomic sculptures that she and professional dancers occasionally perform on.
Bailey has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, in France, Germany, The Netherlands, Cuba, and across the US.  She was awarded residencies from the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Triangle Arts, I-Park and Sculpture Space. She holds an MFA in Sculpture from the Ecole des Beaux Arts (Paris) and a BFA in Architectural metal work from Olivier de Serres School of Design (Paris). Bailey received fellowships from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and the San Francisco Art Institute to study abroad. It’s at the San Francisco Art Institute that Bailey started incorporating performance in her work.

In addition, Bailey taught perspective techniques in Paris with a specialty in anamorphosis. She recently wrote an essay for The Funambulist about a groundbreaking representational technique developed by Ryan and Trevor Oakes.

Eve shares a studio with her husband , special make-up effect artist, Adam Bailey.
